Why choose Independence Driving Centre to Become a Driving Instructor?

It is important that you choose the right training Company to enroll on an ADI training course. There are many that are ‘sales’ companies, and providing you can pay they will allow you to enroll whether or not you have the ability to pass.

Most of these companies will ask you for the full amount up front, and in some cases this can be around £3,000. BEWARE!!!

Our advice is to look around and ask the right questions before committing.

Some of these companies tie you to a CDL (Career Development Loan) or a finance agreement, and YES you may not have to start repayments until you have started employment as an instructor... and YES you will still have to make the repayments even if you do NOT make it to become an instructor.

There are some people that do not make it passed Part 1 however have paid for all three elements of the training and we have not heard of a company that will give refunds. This means that should you not complete all sections of your training you may end up with a bill for around £3,000.

Independence Driving Centre allow you to pay only for the elements of training you are undertaking, so you can pay for Part 1, pass, and then pay for Part 2 and so on, this safeguards your money.

All students training with Independence Driving Centre are guaranteed employment (as a membership) on completion of their examinations. The earning potential as an instructor with Independence Driving Centre is detailed below.

How much can I realistically earn as a driving instructor?

There are many companies who will try and encourage you to join there Company with the promise of high earning, and pie in the sky promises, Independence Driving Centre will tell you how it is really and give you the true facts.

The best way of explaining the industry is as follows;
You would expect to pay a high price for a suit from Saville Row, and not so much for a suit from Oxfam. The Saville Row of the driving school industry would normally be referred to as AA and BSM. In most cases, and for a variety of reasons, you would pay the higher price for an hour’s lesson than from other competitors in your area.

At the other end of the scale you will be able to find instructors that will be offering special packages, FREE first lesson, first 3 lessons at £10.00 and so on, BEWARE as you get nothing for nothing and will only get what you pay for.
IDC the key to your success

Independence Driving Centre market themselves just below the top end of the market and our lesson price is normally around 10% less than AA and BSM. In September 2008, our average lesson price that the instructor receives would be £22.00, and so if you work a 30 hour week, which is realistic, you would earn £660 per week before costs. Most other companies would show you an equation with 45 hours per week, which you could do, however it is HARD work, but of course the more hours you work the more income you can earn.

At the time of printing, the membership fee that you would pay from your earnings is £80.00+VAT per week, with your own vehicle.

Most leading national schools instructors pay an average of £310.00 per week which is 40% more than Independence Driving Centre. So yes, you would earn a little more working for these Companies, however you would pay a lot more in fees for the privilege.

There are some schools that will charge you less membership fee each week, but two things you should check out first, what is the average per hour they are earning? and what level of hours are you working each week?. There are many instructors who defect to Independence Driving Centre because they are with a company that takes 70% of their earnings every week.

Independence Driving Centre are confident that they will give the very best membership package in the industry, and are looking for instructors throughout the Northwest, and beyond. Please call for more information to our membership manager on 0800 298 3012
